Sekudu Quarterly

About

Sekudu Quarterly is our quarterly literary magazine. We welcome poetry, short prose, visual art including photography, and genre-defying pieces. Open to fiction and nonfiction (which will be in different sections). A new issue will be published every three months, in March, June, September and December.

We value deep insight into philosophy, science, politics, and other interesting conceptual realms, with an emphasis on heterodoxy, independent-mindedness and clarity of thought. In particular, we appreciate what may be called analytic aestheticism: beauty by virtue of informational execution and sublimity by virtue of form, rather than by mere content and subject matter. It is the masterful arrangement of semantosyntax, as it were, the symbiotic mutual-elevation of meaning and structure.

Submission

Submit your work to floatingsekudu@gmail.com, in .pdf or .docx format. There is no cost for submission. All accepted submissions will be published. You will be notified via email within three months if your submission has been successful. If you do not hear back from us within three months, it is likely that we have not found a suitable place for your work in our publication.

We allow simultaneous submissions. Please inform us if your work is accepted elsewhere so we can give due credit. We also accept previously-published pieces. However please let us know where the piece was first published so we may acknowledge this in our publication. Conversely, in the event that you publish your work elsewhere after publication in Sekudu Quarterly, we kindly request that you credit us as the first place of publication.

Sekudu Quarterly does NOT endorse the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the production of artistic work. We do not accept any AI artwork. By submitting your work to us, you assert that you have not used AI in the creation of your art.

Publication

Tentative plans: Each quarter, accepted works will be collected into one issue and published by Sekudu in Singapore at no cost to the creators (we are not a vanity press). At the end of each four-issue cycle, these will be compiled into a larger collection and published. This volume will be given an ISBN, which is valid internationally. Several copies will be deposited with the National Library Board and PublicationSG’s collection. The collections will also be made available internationally on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. in eBook and print formats.

Rights

Authors will retain full ownership of their work. By submitting to Sekudu Quarterly, you grant us the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and display your work in our digital and physical publications and on social media.
